The MSA Dental Journal employs a double-blind peer review process and adheres to open-access policies, allowing articles to be freely downloaded. The publishing process begins with an initial review by the Technical Editor, who checks the manuscript for adherence to the journal’s Guidelines for Authors, which takes 1 week. Following this, the manuscript undergoes a plagiarism check using Turnitin and the Editor-in-Chief assigns at least two topic experts as reviewers, all completed within an additional 1 week. The review period allows reviewers 2 weeks to evaluate the manuscript and provide feedback while maintaining confidentiality. After the reviews are completed, the Editor-in-Chief shares the reviewers’ comments with the corresponding author within 1 week. If there is consensus between the reviewers, the process continues; otherwise, an additional reviewer or associate editor may be assigned for further evaluation. The corresponding author is then given 2 weeks to address the reviewers’ comments and resubmit the revised manuscript. The Editor-in-Chief will then send the revised manuscript to one of the original reviewers or an associate editor for a final review of the revisions, which takes 2 weeks. Finally, upon approval of the article, the technical editor will finalize the editing and layout design over the course of 2 weeks, followed by 1 week for publication online. This structured timeline ensures that each issue of the MSA Dental Journal is published quarterly while maintaining high academic standards and a thorough review process.
